The concept behind the 8ILC logo

The design of the 8ILC logo was based on core concepts related to the 8th International Legume Conference, particularly the confluence of different research lines and interests during a conference in the heart of a country particularly rich in legume species.

To represent Brazilian legumes, we chose the copaíba (Copaifera langsdorffii Desf.). Copaíbas are trees and shrubs that occur in different vegetation types throughout most of Brazil and produce oils widely used in traditional medicine. The fruits of the copaíba, which bear a hanging dark seed with a yellow to orange aril, are reminiscent of the shape of an eight. Finally, the logo builds up the structure of Venn diagrams, to symbolize the integration of knowledge —and of people— promoted during the conference.

We advise use of PDF files to design presentations and posters, more so for posters, which will have to be printed. Using other formats (JPG, TIFF and PNG) may result in issues with printing resolution. Also note that JPGs do not have a transparent background while all the other files do.
